Ice Cream Sandwiches Kick

Hi, my name is Valerie and I’m addicted to ice cream sandwiches.  It might be my new obsession of the spring/summer, these bite-sized morsels that are somehow the perfect mixture of cookie and ice cream.  A treat when you’re in the mood for something different than a few scoops of ice cream enveloped in an over-sized waffle cone, or petite sugar cone.  Ice cream sandwiches, somehow reminiscent of summer camp, bring to mind a welcome break during the temperate day to peel open that crinkly wrapping to reveal something cool and satisfying, sweet with a little bite.

Last night I tried Ciao Bella’s new Gelato Squares – a high brow take on the low brow treat.  Two thumbs up – these are delicious!

A minty Oreo-esque sandwich – also incredibly delicious, and small enough that one is not enough.  Addictive.

And Melt Bakery’s ice cream sandwiches are the locally made, incredibly gourmet treat that makes your afternoon.  I first tried these at Fashion Night’s Out 2010, and have been itching to try more since.  May I recommend the Cinnamon ice cream sandwiched by Snickerdoodle cookies?

And to round out the bunch, The Meatball Shop’s post-meatball sandwich dessert, with home-made ice cream and cookies.  Mmm!

Are you hungry now?
