Winter Wonderland 2011

View from my kitchen window of the backyards of the brownstones on 10th St. between 8th and PPW.  Frosty looks cozy from inside.

Brrr.  Rainy, wet afternoon in a snow-covered Prospect Park.  White snow makes the dead leaves appear saturated and rich.

Reach for the sky cowboy.

Wet pines of Prospect Park.

Wet Priyanka of Prospect Park.

Strange, staring squirrels planning goodness knows what.

Winter Hibernation Technique: Stay inside, wear woolen sweaters and socks.  Bake cookies.  Watch Masterpiece Theater.

Round 2 of the Ginger Molasses cookies.  Last batch, I added real grated ginger into the mix, and unfortunately did not have any to add to this mix, but we upped the ante by adding three well-rounded teaspoons of ground ginger.  We also substituted allspice and nutmeg for cloves, no substitute I’m sure, but I was just too lazy to purchase.

Recipe: Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Round 2 batch: bite-sized edition with a sprinkling of sugar atop instead of rolling the dough balls in a healthy dose of additional sugar.

Perfect afternoon.  Masterpiece Theater: Emma with Romola Garai and Jonny Lee Miller.  Jasmine tea in mustache mug.  Brand spanking new Lucky Magazine.  And spicy ginger molasses cookies.  Yummers.
