End of the Year Lists

Listing is one of my favorite activities but no time is it more pertinent than the end of year reflections.  Everything from Time’s Person of the Year (Mark Zuckerberg) to the Ten Best Books of 2010 (both fiction and non-fiction) to one of my favorites – NPR’s top ten musical albums of the year.  All Songs Considered is always a treat (did anyone listen to the best breakup songs mix?) but I love the retrospective on the year’s best musical offerings.

In a year that’s produced such albums as The National’s High Violet, The Black Keys’ Brothers and Broken Bells’ self-titled album – it’s been a very good year indeed.

NPR’s Best Music of 2010

A look back at the year that was in my headphones of songs/music released in 2010:

Top 10 Songs of 2010 (in no particular order):

The National – Bloodbuzz Ohio

Mumford and Sons – Little Lion Man

Ingrid Michaelson – Parachute

Head and the Heart – Down in the Valley

Sharon Van Etten – Love More

Sarah Jaffe – Clementine

Eminem and Rihanna – I Love the Way You Lie

Stornoway – Fuel Up

Sleigh Bells – Rill Rill

The Black Keys – Howling For You

Here’s to 2011 – see you on the flip side.

  1. I have all but 2 of these already (thanks to you of course). I just need “I Love the Way You Lie” and “Howling for You” and my “Val’s top 10 of 2010” Playlist is complete!
